Yoga Nidra is increasingly becoming popular and is now being prescribed by doctors worldwide as a preventive and curative therapy in stress related diseases.  Yoga Nidra is effective in management of disorders that have progressed to an irreversible stage by providing effective symptomatic relief. The ultimate objective of Yoga Nidra goes far beyond rectifying the imbalances created in the body by poor stress management. This method teaches you how to activate and enhance awareness for problem solving, improve memory recall, and increase muscular, mental and emotional relaxation.

Yoga Nidra is effective for achieving a natural relaxing and stabilizing of the mind and emotions. The beauty is you need only to try this method for several minutes to experience the immediate results.  Working with these techniques is both easy and highly enjoyable and suitable for all persons, regardless of the type of tension or disturbance.

Yoga nidra is easy and enjoyable to practice.  If you can breathe and either sit or lie comfortably, you can practice yoga nidra.  Yoga Nidra is a practice for almost everyone!

 

Saturday 9 am-noon  $35  What is Yoga Nidra and how can it help me towards a lower stress life?

We will learn the structure of yoga nidra and learn to welcome the messages the body has for us.  We begin with a few yoga poses to guide us into awareness of the body and lead us towards our first deep relaxation.

 

Saturday 1:30 pm-4:30 pm $35 Yoga Nidra and working with emotions

Stress accumulates when we suppress our emotions.  Perhaps we have been taught that only some emotions are acceptable or we find some of our emotions frightening or inappropriate.  In the deeply relaxed space of Yoga Nidra we can learn to welcome these emotions and remain at ease.  The result—a life lived with less stress.

 

Sunday 9 am-noon $35  Using Yoga Nidra to examine thoughts and beliefs about yourself

Many of us have tapes in our heads that say things like “You’re not good enough,” or “You can’t do that.”  These tapes hold us back from our full potential, make our interpersonal relationships more challenging, and raise our stress levels.  Using Yoga Nidra, we can quiet these tapes and even re-record them—to help us live our lives at ease.

 

Sunday 1:30-4:30 $35  Realizing joy and well-being with Yoga Nidra

Our natural state is one of harmony and balance, filled with joy and a sense of well-being.  The deep relaxation of yoga nidra helps us find this natural state and, with practice, stay in this state more and more of the day.

 

Ila Michelle McAlpin served as co-director of the Amrit Method® Yoga Nidra Professional Training with the Amrit Yoga Institute from 2007-2011.   She has continued her study of yoga nidra with Richard Miller and is becoming a certified iRest® yoga nidra instructor.  As mindfulness coach in contemplative psychotherapy with Healing Paths and Practices, Ltd. of Boulder, Colorado, Michelle teaches mindfulness through yoga nidra and a variety of communication building techniques.

Partner Yoga Workshop

In our partner we have a mirror, a physical presence that brings us into the present moment and more fully into ourselves,  This presence supports us to integrate our insights into the very cells of our being, as a fully embodied awareness.

Just as in our relationships off the mat, in Partner Yoga we experience directly what it feels like to build trust and compassion with others.  Our partner reflects back to us the qualities that we express.  This is both the pleasure and the challenge of Partner Yoga, because we are also made acutely aware of those moments when we are distrustful and unwilling to connect.  



Athena Seay will guide you as you move through playful sequences of partner-assisted poses where one helps the other.  We will also go through double yoga poses where each reflects the other in dynamic and balanced symmetries.
Come with a friend, sibling, romantic partner.  Or come on your own and we will pair you up.  Be prepared to laugh and have fun.

Essential Oils: Make Your Own Healthy Products

Aromatherapy uses pure essential oils to balance, relax and rejuvenate mind and body.  It can improve the quality of life and well-being.  Essential oils can be anti bacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti viral.  Natural aromas bring relaxation, boost energy, heal the body and soothe the mind. 

In this workshop you will make a linen spray, hand wash, body wash, salve, bath salts, and insect repellent.  Susan will show you the basics of making your own products while understanding how to save money and protect the environment.

In this session you will learn:

  • What are the properties of the pure essential oils specific for the use in the home.
  • History and sources of the essential oils that are derived for our use.
  • Applications for the skin and the environment.
  • The safe use of oils and blends.
  • Experiencing the blends of the oils.
  • Identify basic essential oils to have in your personal collection.
  • Each Participant will take home sample size vials of each of the products made.

 Join us as Registered Aroma Therapist, Susan Cannon expertly shows you the understanding of using essential oils and their properties.  Learn the different aromas of sweet, spicy, woody, floral and fruity.  Susan will help you to evaluate the aromas as you experience the scents best for you.   Susan will have some essential oils for purchase.

Children's Angel Bear Yoga

Angel Bear Yoga is a unique 3-week program for children ages 5-10 that focuses on their fascination of the world of animals with the physical activity of yoga movement.

By attaching a character trait for each yoga pose and by combining yoga with nature, our program teaches children to embody positive behavior and appreciate the natural world.


This creative way of building character in children while connecting to yoga, to education and to nature creates compassionate, respectful and caring individuals.

Your child will learn to:
  • Use their imaginations with Angel Bear and her friend, Sweet Pea as they soar into different forests relating to positive character traits.
  • Engage in yoga poses to spread their wings, climb mountains, listen to the rain.
  • Express ideas as they listen to poems and stories specific to positive personalities.
  • Understand nature, from the smallest creature on land to the largest whale in the ocean.
  • Develop an understanding of how they can make a difference in the world.
Jackie Knafelc is a Board Certified Special Education Teacher with over 13 years of experience in public and private schools.  She is a certified Angel Bear Yoga Instructor.  Her workshops are well known to give children the opportunity to build confidence and self-esteem, learning yoga poses and breathing with a focus on beauty and peace.

Ultimately, children who attend Jackie's Angel Bear Yoga workshops improve their learning and comprehension in school.

Reiki is a Japanese healing technique developed by Mikao Usui that creates equilibrium through stress reduction and relaxation. As a form of complementary therapy based on the understanding of balancing our life force energy, its simple method is used to improve health and enhance the quality of life.

An amazingly easy technique to learn, it has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.  Jessica Peach will give you several basic hand positions to begin your ability to empower your own healing and for others.

In this workshop certification you will learn:
  • Using hand positions for specific healing conditions.
  • Reiki Symbols and how to work with them.
  • Gain proficiency in the practice of working with energy flow.
  • How to do attunements for several health needs.
  • How to create harmony and balance for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
